1 ml syringe, did you use it correctly?
When it comes to 1 ml syringe, I believe nurses in clinical work will never be unfamiliar with it. However, have you used 1 ml syringe correctly?
1. Use of 1 ml syringeAccording to the instruction manual of a brand of 1 ml syringe, this product is used for suction or injection immediately after injection. Clinically, it is usually used for intradermal injection, subcutaneous injection of a small amount of drugs, etc. these drugs are usually used temporarily or in a short period of time.
2. Use of U-40 and U-100 syringes
The manual of a brand of U-40 syringe indicates that the purpose of this product is to inject insulin into human body immediately after suction; The manual of U-100 syringe indicates that the instrument is suitable for injection of U-100 insulin. It can be seen that these two kinds of syringes are specially used for extracting and injecting insulin of different dosage forms and types.
3. The difference between 1 ml syringe and U-40, U-100 syringe
The measurement unit of 1 ml syringe is ml. the diameter and length of each type of needle are shown in the table below: (unit: mm). But the clinical daily use is usually the middle model, the diameter is 0.45mm, 0.55mm (brown, orange).
The unit of measurement of U-40 and U-100 syringes is unit. The diameter of the needle commonly used in clinic is 0.25 mm and 0.45 mm, the shortest is 4 mm and the longest is 16 mm. The author's unit of insulin syringe needle is 0.33 * 13 mm.
Insulin injection is divided into two dosage forms of 40 units / ml and 100 units / ml. U-40 syringe means that only 40 units of insulin can be extracted per ml, and U-100 syringe means that only 100 units of insulin can be extracted per ml. the volume of the two syringes is 1ml, but the unit scale is different. U-40 syringe has 40 cells, Each small cell is equivalent to one unit of 40 units / ml insulin, and the unit scale is as small as 0.025ml; The U-100 syringe has 50 compartments, each compartment is equivalent to two units of insulin in 100 unit / ml dosage form, and the unit scale is as small as 0.02 ml. It can be seen that different dosage forms of insulin should be injected with corresponding syringes respectively, otherwise the injection dose will be wrong. The U-40 and U-100 syringes can not be used indiscriminately, they can only be used for the drug dosage forms matching with themselves.
